Help Provide Shoes for Burnet County Kids

Our church has volunteered to provide shoes for new clothing closets being formed in Burnet and Marble Falls. Donate new or gently used, up-to-date tennis shoes for ages toddler - high school age by December 13. A donation bin is located in the FUMC church foyer.

Weakday Ministries in partnership with the Highland Lakes Crisis Network is expanding their clothing ministry. They are putting in new clothing closets and providing for already established ones throughout Burnet county. The collaboration is also setting up a main hub in Marble Falls that will be up and running by January 1, 2022.

Currently, the "His Hands" program is sponsoring children until the new clothing closets can provide enough stocked resources for an ongoing accommodation of these children. They have already provided for over 80 children within the last two months. Learn more about the "His Hands" program on the Weakday Ministries website.

The ultimate goal is to allow children to be provided for whenever they are in need. Another goal of the new facilities is to allow these children to fit in with their peers. Therefore, most of the donated clothing needs to be brand new or very gently used and up-to-date. Not only will these children be provided for, but they will also have improved self-esteem as a result: a mentoring program also takes place as needed.

Eligible children are identified by school counselors, teachers, principles and any social workers within our area. One clothing closet is at RJ Richey in Burnet and the other is in one of the portables from the Crisis Network next to Marble Falls Elementary.

Here are a couple pictures of the set up of the clothing closets in progress.
